- During the tumultuous reign of Aurangzeb, when sacred temples and their deities faced destruction, many revered idols were relocated to various parts of India for safeguarding. The authentic Madan Mohan deity found refuge in Karauli, Rajasthan, ensuring its protection from potential harm. Today, at the temple, a Pratibha-murti, a duplicate of the original image, is venerated, symbolizing the resilience and preservation of divine heritage during challenging times.

- In antiquity, the primary Madan Mohan deity is believed to have been unearthed by Advaita Acharya from the base of an Advaita vata tree in Vrindavan. Advaita Acharya, over time, entrusted Purusottama Chaube with the responsibility of worshiping Madan Mohan, a duty later passed on to Sanatana Gosvami.

- The inception of the Madan Mohan Temple can be attributed to King Vajranabh, the Great Grandson of Krishna, who established it along with several other temples in Vrindavan approximately 5000 years ago. However, with the passage of time, the temple disappeared from historical records.

- Aurangzeb's assault on Vrindavan led to the destruction of the old temple's pinnacle, known as Shikhara. Consequently, Sri Nand Kumar Bose of Bengal erected a new temple adjacent to the original one downhill in the early 19th century (in the year 1819), as the original structure had become unsuitable for worship.

- Initially, the deity of Shrimati Radha Rani alongside Lord Madan Mohan was absent. In light of this, Purushottam Jena, the son of King Prataparudra from Orissa, dispatched two goddess Radha deities from Puri to be installed alongside Lord Madan Mohan. This significant addition enriched the divine presence within the temple.
